People of Warrah

You can follow our new social media campaign, People of Warrah on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/warrahsocietydisabilityservices/

The People of Warrah is our new social media campaign. It is a positive campaign that focuses on the strengths of our Clients, Residents and Staff at Warrah.

The campaign includes a photograph of a variety of  Residents, Clients, Students or Staff members  at Warrah ( who has given media consent) going about their daily activities accompanied with a small snippet of conversation about what it is that they are doing, planning or thinking. Each week we focus on the positive strengths of the People of Warrah. Example Questions asked may include: What do you like to do for fun? Why do you love working or coming to Warrah?

Meet Mathew- Warrah Biodynamic Farm and Shop Volunteer

#peopleofwarrah

Mathew is an enthusiastic and always willing volunteer at the Warrah Biodynamic Farm and Shop. He volunteers at our shop 3 days a week and participates in our Field to Fork course.

When asked what he does here at Warrah Mathew explains:

“I am a volunteer at the Warrah Society. I work at the shop and I do a course with Rob on the farm. I like it because it’s interesting to know about organic stuff. I like working on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I like cleaning windows with Peter. That is a fun job. I also like picking on the farm.

Before I worked at Warrah I worked in a nursery, fertilising, watering, propagating, and on deliveries. Here at Warrah I love helping people and customers at the shop, here I work in more areas, especially seeds.”

When asked what he likes to do for fun outside of work Mathew told us that he was a member of the Shelby Boys Racing Team:

“On weekends I help people with car racing. I fill up the cars with petrol, do the tyre pressure, give them water and help them in and out of the cars. I help my step Dad build cars. I can help pull a car apart and put it back together.

I want to buy a GT 350 – 1966 Mustang from America and bring it over to Australia. That is my dream!

Later this year I am going to America with some of my team. We are going to San Francisco, Monterey for a big event and then L.A. and Disneyland.

On weekends I sometimes go to the beach and some pubs and clubs with my respite friends. We play some snooker and have a bit of fun."

* The people of Warrah would like to thank Mathew for all of the hours he donates to the Warrah Society, always with a smile on his face.
